The suburb of
Edenvale forms part of
Modderfontein, and falls under the
East Rand division of the
Gauteng Province. Modderfontein is the industrial area in which
Edenvale is found, and is well known for manufacturing explosives.
Edenvale is an ideal area to live in as it’s located halfway between O.R. Tambo International
Airport and the city of
Johannesburg, providing a convenient base for the business commuter.
This town dates back to 1903, when Cornish Miners settled here after the Boer War.
In addition to being close to the CBD of Joburg, Edenvale is also within close proximity to many retail outlets, such as the
Eastgate and East Rand shopping malls, and
Bruma Lake, which hosts the largest flea market in South Africa; entertainment and sports facilities, such as the
Linksfield Golf Course; and a wide variety of restaurants.
Edenvale is a very quiet suburb, popular with young families, and available properties range from moderate in areas such as
Eastleigh, to upper class in areas such as the sought-after
Bedfordview. Other areas of residential interest include
De Klerkshof,
Elma Park, Dowerglades,
Eden Glen, Glendower,
Hurlyvale and River Ridge.
